Privacy Policy – Formula Lockscreen

1. Introduction

Welcome to Formula Lockscreen ("the App", "we", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the App, how it is used, and your rights with respect to that information.

By installing or using Formula Lockscreen, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App.

2. Information We Collect

Formula Lockscreen is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information:

App preferences – Settings you configure in the App (theme mode, enabled formula categories, auto-advance, randomize) are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. They are never transmitted off-device.
Formula content – The App may fetch mathematical formula data from the internet to keep your lockscreen content up to date. No personally identifiable information is sent with these requests.
No account or sign-in required – We do not collect your name, email address, or any account credentials.
No analytics or advertising SDKs – The App does not embed third-party advertising or behavioral analytics libraries.

3. Android Permissions Explained

The App requests the following Android permissions. Each permission is used solely to deliver the lockscreen functionality and for no other purpose.

INTERNET Used to download mathematical formula content (LaTeX data) from our server so your lockscreen always displays fresh, accurate formulas.

WAKE_LOCK Allows the App to briefly wake the device screen when needed to render the lockscreen UI properly, preventing it from going blank mid-display.

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Allows the App to restart the lockscreen service automatically after the device is rebooted, so you never miss the lockscreen after a restart.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC Required by Android to run a persistent foreground service. The lockscreen service must remain active at all times to intercept screen-on events and display the formula lockscreen reliably. Without this, Android may kill the service in the background.

      READ_PHONE_STATE
      Why we need this permission: Formula Lockscreen displays a custom overlay on
      your lock screen. When an incoming phone call arrives, Android raises the call UI above all
      other windows. Without awareness of the phone state, our lockscreen overlay could appear on
      top of the incoming-call screen, blocking you from answering or declining a call.


      READ_PHONE_STATE allows the App to detect when a call is incoming or active so
      that the formula lockscreen overlay is automatically hidden, giving the native call UI full
      priority. We read only the telephony state (idle / ringing / off-hook) — we do not access
      your call log, contact list, phone number, or any other personal data.
    

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. The only external network communication is fetching formula content from our own server. No user-identifiable data is included in those requests.

Formula Lockscreen does not integrate Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, AdMob, or any other third-party data-collection service.

5. Data Storage & Security

All user preferences are stored locally on your device. We use Android's standard SharedPreferences mechanism with private mode, meaning no other app can read your settings.

We do not operate external databases that store your personal information. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is removed by Android automatically.

6. Children's Privacy

Formula Lockscreen is intended for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
